PLAYING ALONG TO RHAPSODY IN BLUE

Acrylic & cardboard on canvas

“Playing Along to Rhapsody in Blue” was inspired by the chaos, emotion, and theatrical energy of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. I wanted the piece to feel loud, alive, and slightly overwhelming in the best way possible like a song spilling out into the room.

Part of this work was created using discarded cardboard, layered into the composition as a reminder that things people overlook still hold value. Materials that were once considered useless became part of something expressive and alive.

There’s a tension in the piece between movement and reflection between performance and emotion. It’s messy, human, playful, and dramatic all at once.

This is an original, one-of-one artwork.
