I finally started a snail mail
How I Just Started My Snail Mail Project as an Artist
For a long time, my art mostly lived online.
On screens.
In posts.
In feeds people scroll past quickly.
I loved sharing my work, but I wanted something more personal. I wanted people to experience my art slowly and intentionally.
So I decided to try something new.
I just started a snail mail project.
Why I Decided to Start
I missed the feeling of receiving real mail. Something you open carefully. Something you keep.
I wanted my supporters to feel that same care when they received my art.
I kept thinking:
What if my art arrived in an envelope instead of a feed?
That idea stayed with me until I finally acted on it.
I Started Small and Simple
I did not wait until everything was perfect.
I started with:
A few art prints
Envelopes
A notebook
A small workspace
I wrote letters. I printed my art. I packed everything myself.
It was simple. It was honest.
I Shared the Process Right Away
Even though I was new to it, I shared the process online.
My desk.
My letters.
My packaging days.
Letting people see the beginning made them feel part of it.
I Chose a Monthly Routine
Since I am just starting, I chose to send mail once a month.
That gives me time to create thoughtfully and stay consistent.
It feels manageable and sustainable.
I Put Meaning Into Every Package
Each package includes things that matter to me:
An art print
A personal letter
A studio note or sketch
A song recommendation
Sometimes a small surprise
I want every envelope to feel intentional.
I Am Learning as I Go
I am still figuring things out.
Some months are smoother than others.
Some things take longer than expected.
But I am learning with every letter I send.
I Am Focusing on Real Connection
Right now, my goal is not big numbers.
My goal is connection.
I read messages. I reply. I listen.
That matters most to me.
Final Thoughts
Starting my snail mail project has already reminded me why I love creating.
It slows me down.
It helps me connect.
It makes my art feel personal again.
If you have been thinking about starting something like this, this is your sign.
You do not have to have everything figured out.
You just have to begin.
If you want, I can next help you write the signup page or Pinterest posts to grow this project.
